NAPEO Commends House Lawmakers For Recognizing Need For IRS Modernization

| 2/11/2025

ALEXANDRIA, Va., February 11, 2025 — The National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (NAPEO) today commended the House Ways and Means Oversight Subcommittee for its hearing on the need to modernize outdated IRS technology that has led to years of uncertainty, frustration and security risks for America’s small businesses.

“We applaud lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who are facilitating important steps for the IRS to meet the privacy, security and efficiency demands of the 21st century,” said NAPEO President and CEO Casey Clark. “The continued reliance on antiquated fax machine technology to share sensitive, personal taxpayer information is inefficient and concerning.”

NAPEO submitted comments for the hearing and also recently sent a letter to the White House concerning the processing bottlenecks and data privacy risks caused by the IRS’ current technology and regulatory practices.
