PEOs process payroll and administer payroll taxes for more than 230,000 businesses that rely on an IRS that can process returns efficiently, communicate promptly with taxpayers and protect sensitive taxpayer data. I applaud IRS CEO Bisignano’s commitment to modernizing IRS systems and encourage Congress to take meaningful steps to make this vision a reality.
A fully modernized IRS would deliver faster processing, improved customer service and enhanced data security while reducing administrative burdens for IRS employees. It would allow for real-time digital interactions and tracking and minimize manual errors. Modernizing IRS systems would align tax administration with the efficiencies that technology provides Americans in every other aspect of their lives. America’s taxpayers deserve an IRS built for the 21st century. The time to act is now.
