Elizabeth-Burton Jones is the Communications Manager at NAPEO. She amplifies the association’s efforts to create a favorable legislative and regulatory environment for the PEO industry, with a particular focus on social media and generating earned media coverage.
Before joining NAPEO, Elizabeth spent nine years on Capitol Hill. Over the years, she worked in both the House and Senate chambers and served as a Communications Director and on-the-record spokesperson for multiple Members of Congress. She navigated the media landscape of two impeachments, the COVID-19 pandemic, three shutdowns and the events of January 6.
Elizabeth created programs for the Senate Black Legislative Staff Caucus and founded the Women’s Congressional Staff Association Procedure Program. In 2018, she traveled to Berlin, Germany, to participate in the Aspen Institute’s Congressional–Bundestag Staff Exchange Program. She also completed the following fellowships: American University’s WeLead Campaign Training Program; the Aspen Institute Socrates Program Emerging Governance Leaders Seminar; and the Wilson Center’s Foreign Policy and Cybersecurity Fellowships.
Elizabeth holds a Master of Arts in Communication, Culture & Technology from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Theater Arts from the Tim Russert Department of Communication with Minors in History and Spanish from John Carroll University. She also taught at Georgetown University and The George Washington University.
Elizabeth is proudly from Canton, Ohio, the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Thompson-Markward Hall and is an active member of St. Peter’s Church on Capitol Hill and the Junior League of Washington.
