Thom Stohler is NAPEO’s vice president of federal government affairs, representing the association before Congress and federal agencies. He is also responsible for three NAPEO committees: the Federal Government Affairs Committee, the Healthcare Committee, and the CPEO Committee. Thom also serves as Treasurer of the NAPEO PAC and is responsible for its operations.
Thom also serves on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Employee Benefits and Labor Relations Committees, as well as the American Benefits Council Policy Board of Directors.
Prior to working at NAPEO, Thom was employed as a consultant by the Society for Human Resource Management and Accenture. He also served in the George W. Bush Administration: first as a Senior Legislative Officer in the U.S. Department of Labor; then as the Deputy Assistant Secretary and the Acting Assistant Secretary of Occupational Safety and Health at OSHA.
He has worked in public affairs in the student loan industry for Sallie Mae and Goal Financial and spent 10 years working in government affairs for several trade associations including the American Electronics Association; The Associated General Contractors; and the Textile Rental Services Association. Thom started his career on Capitol Hill, where he worked for 8 years, including serving as the first Legislative Director for former House Speaker John Boehner.
